Exploring Space: Kidspace Children’s Museum

About Educational Resource

This program provides a virtual themed week of crafts, activities, and projects to invite young children and families to explore space through your organizations’ blogs and social media channels. It’s a digital celebration that encourages exploration by highlighting three ways space is explored, while challenging kids to practice skills required of any future space explorer: imagination, creativity, and critical thinking!

This Program Model was developed and authored by Kidspace Children’s Museum, with minimal editorial input and review from NASA's Universe of Learning. NASA's Universe of Learning has contributed astrophysics content and subject matter expertise to support the creation of this material.

Other organizations may adapt these materials to meet the needs of their specific audiences. While this Program Model was designed to serve the local audience of the authoring institution, it is shared here as an example for broader use. Users should adjust it as needed and use all or some of the content, as appropriate, for their own needs.

Goals and Recommendations

Goals

To celebrate that outer space inspires wonder about the universe, and invites us to explore and discover!

Recommendations

Consider restructuring activities so children have several successful learning outcomes. When developing an at-home experience, be cognizant of supply limitations families may have. Consider ways to engage both parents and children to work together collaboratively.

Target Audience: Families with children ages 5 to 7.
