ViewSpace Interactives: Variable Stars
About Educational Resource
Not all stars shine consistently! Some stars temporarily increase in brightness for several days or weeks, while others have periodic changes in brightness. In other examples, stars change in brightness based on the environments around them. The variation in the brightness of some stars tells us about how they evolve, and helps researchers learn about their properties inside and out. Explore their variations in different types of light (Eta Carinae) and over time (V838 Monocerotis) in these interactives.
Are you interested in setting up ViewSpace in your museum, library, or other informal learning venue? Our interactives and individual videos may be accessed by anyone; however, for informal learning venues that would like to present the ViewSpace looping video collection to the public, please request a free account.
